On March 11th, the Bergstrom Library in partnership with the Shaler North Hills Library hosted a reading incentive event based on the book, The Lightning Thief. 150 students from 4th-6th grade participated in the event by reading the book and passing the Reading Counts quiz. The library was transformed into Mt. Olympus and Camp Half Blood based on figures in Greek Mythology, which is the book’s theme. Students tested their physical, mental, and artistic skills through a quiz show, javelin toss, visiting the Oracle, Who’s Your Daddy? station, and keychain craft. As a final activity for the day, two groups of students from the 6th grade prepared a short play that was taken from an excerpt of the book.
